Wind blowing again above Wind(巽 ☴) — a hexagram that seeps in gently.
巽 is wind, and deference — the place of entering low and soaking in. As wind seeps into every crevice, it is a season of getting things done by suppleness rather than force. As the Judgment says it prospers in small things, is favourable to have somewhere to go, and to meet a great person (小亨 利有攸往 利見大人), even a gentle penetration gains its force only with direction and counsel.
Both trigrams are Wind(巽 ☴), of the Wood(木) phase. Wind blowing again upon wind — entering softly, seeping in.
The Jiaoshi Yilin sets sixty-four verses under every hexagram. On a day this hexagram keeps, the verse daycolor offers for today can be one of only six — the verses of the six hexagrams reached when a single line moves. If the bottom line moves, it is The Taming Power of the Small(小畜) · sun through rain; the second, Gradual Progress(漸) · sun through rain; the third, Dispersion(渙) · sun through rain; the fourth, Coming to Meet(姤) · with the current; the fifth, Work on What Has Been Spoiled(蠱) · sun through rain; the top, The Well(井) · sun through rain. The words after each name give the grain of that verse — a cue to its mood, not a verdict of fortune or misfortune; the three are explained under the Jiaoshi Yilin in the glossary. Which line moves is decided by a number drawn from your own saju together with the stems and branches of that day.
In the six-days-seven-fen (六日七分) day-arrangement of the Jiaoshi Yilin, this hexagram holds the thirteenth of the fifteen places in the Summer Solstice(夏至) quarter. In most years that is about six days, from around September 4 to 10, as End of Heat (處暑) gives way to White Dew (白露) — when the nights cool and dew gathers on the grass. The place before it belongs to Standstill(否); the place after, to Gathering Together(萃). The exact dates shift a little each year; which hexagram governs today can be seen, with your own chart, in the main app. Why the days are divided this way is set out under Jikil in the glossary.
This is a place of yielding softly and seeping in. 巽 is wind, and entering — not pushing by strength but soaking in through gentleness to accomplish one's aim. It prospers small (小亨), and meeting a great one is favourable. Yet too much yielding loses one's spine: be soft, but keep the direction clear.
