불(離) 위로 바람(巽)이 이는 — 안에서 밖으로 온기가 번지는 괘입니다.
가인(家人)은 집안 사람, 안을 다스리는 자리입니다. 불이 지펴져 바람을 타고 온기가 퍼지듯, 안이 바로 서야 밖이 바로 선다는 이치입니다. 괘사가 여자의 곧음이 이롭다(利女貞)고 한 것은, 각자 제자리에서 도리를 지키는 정돈된 내실이 이 괘의 핵심임을 말합니다.

焦氏易林의 육일칠분(六日七分) 배열에서 풍화가인은 춘분(春分) 분기의 열네 번째 자리에 놓입니다. 해마다 양력 6월 9일 무렵부터 15일 무렵까지 엿새쯤을 맡으며, 절기로는 망종(芒種) 무렵 — 보리를 거두고 모를 심는, 한 해 가장 바쁜 때입니다. 바로 앞은 화천대유(火天大有), 바로 뒤는 수풍정(水風井)이 하루를 맡습니다. 정확한 날짜는 그해 절기에 따라 조금씩 달라지며, 오늘 어떤 괘가 하루를 맡는지는 본편에서 사주와 함께 확인할 수 있습니다. 날짜를 이렇게 나누는 까닭은 용어집의 직일 항목에 적어 두었습니다.

家人 is the people of a household, the place of ordering what is within. As a fire is kindled and its warmth rides the wind outward, so what stands right within sets right what is without. When the Judgment says the constancy of the woman is favourable (利女貞), it says an ordered inner substance — each keeping their place and duty — is the heart of this hexagram.
The upper trigram is Wind(巽 ☴, Wood), the lower Fire(離 ☲). Wind rising from Fire — warmth spreading from within to without.
The Jiaoshi Yilin sets sixty-four verses under every hexagram. In the six-days-seven-fen (六日七分) day-arrangement of the Jiaoshi Yilin, this hexagram holds the fourteenth of the fifteen places in the Spring Equinox(春分) quarter. In most years that is about six days, from around June 9 to 15, in the solar term Grain in Ear (芒種) — the busiest time of the year, when barley is cut and rice is set out. The place before it belongs to Great Possession(大有); the place after, to The Well(井).
