How daycolor builds a result
This page sets out, briefly, the principles and philosophy by which daycolor builds a result.
From the year, month, day, and hour of birth you enter, together with the time zone of your birthplace, the eight characters of the chart — the Heavenly Stems (天干) and Earthly Branches (地支) — are worked out by the rules of the tradition. This calculation happens within your own browser; the values you enter are not stored on any server.
According to the make-up of the calculated chart — the day master (日干), the balance of the five elements, the grain of the season — one image is chosen from among several hundred prepared beforehand to match that grain. The image is not random; it is tied to the features of the chart.
The verses come from the 4,096 lines of the Jiaoshi Yilin, a Han-dynasty oracle. The verse that answers a given day is set by the chart and by the day-arrangement (直日, jikil) of the date you visit. That is why, even for the same person, the verse that reaches you differs as the day changes.
The roles are kept apart.
The verses themselves are not composed by AI; they are carried over from a classic.
The verses here come from the Jiaoshi Yilin, a public-domain classic, and their source is named as far as possible. The commentary, images, and interface are original to this service. To make plain "where did this line come from?" is the principle of this project.
